Thai SEC Files Criminal Complaint Against Bitget Operator BG Limited

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said on Thursday, 5 November 2026, that it had filed a criminal complaint with the Economic Crime Suppression Division against BG Limited, the provider of the Bitget platform at bitget.com, for operating a digital-asset exchange without a licence under the Emergency Decree on Digital Asset Businesses B.E. 2561 (2018). The SEC also named one individual, Mr Kritsana Kritsananuwat, for promotional support. In the same notice (News No. 241 / 2026), the SEC said it had notified the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to the website, related domains and the app from 5 December 2026. That date is prospective; the SEC did not say access is already blocked.

According to the SEC, Bitget offered a digital-asset trading system, charged fees and promoted services in Thai between 2022 and 2025, including a Thai-language website with baht-equivalent display and Thai social channels such as Bitget Thailand on X, BGB Thai Holder on Telegram and bitgetthailand on TikTok. The SEC said that conduct amounts to operating an exchange under Section 3 of the Emergency Decree without a licence, in breach of Section 26. It said Mr Kritsana publicised Bitget through the Facebook page Srisiam and the YouTube channel SRISIAM, which it treats as assisting an unlicensed exchange. A criminal complaint is not a conviction; investigation, prosecution and court decisions remain ahead.

The SEC urged investors who hold assets on Bitget to consider acting before the scheduled access block, and to check licensed operators on the SEC website and the SEC Check First app. Cointelegraph reported that Bitget did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and noted that Bitget had earlier announced plans to acquire a licensed Thai venue — a separate matter from this complaint, and not the same story as Bitget’s product announcements.
