French bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa said in an English FAQ dated 4 November 2026 that attackers entered through a service provider’s platform — not through Fortuneo — and used the bank’s own account to send money to other banks, which may then have been converted into crypto on specialised platforms. Customer accounts were not used, and the bank said customers face no financial impact. Almost all operations resumed on the morning of 4 November after extra checks, it said.

Asked about reports of €118 million (about $133 million), Arkéa said it does not confirm those figures and can only validate the order of magnitude. Some funds have been frozen and recovery work continues, according to the FAQ. The bank described the attack as sophisticated and external, not human error, and said it is working with judicial and police authorities. Those points name the EU victim behind the flows that led Kraken and others to restrict linked accounts in the 4 November package; they do not turn earlier investigator or exchange estimates into bank-confirmed totals.
