Polygon PIP Proposes Hard Fork to Reclaim About 70.49M Stolen POL
A Polygon Improvement Proposal posted on the Polygon community forum on 4 November 2026 by Parvez03, with Polygon Labs validator-support framing in the thread, asks for a coordinated hard fork that would set native POL balances at five blocked attacker addresses to zero and credit matching amounts to recovery wallets designated by Polymarket and Binance, without changing POL supply. The forum text puts about 23.86 million POL across four Polymarket-linked addresses and about 46.63 million POL at one Binance-linked address, about 70.49 million POL in total. An indicative valuation of about $6.5 million at $0.0924 per POL on 29 October 2026 appears in the proposal table — a cited valuation, not recovered funds.
According to the PIP, Polygon PoS block producers have already put the addresses on a Bor transaction block list, which stops movement but cannot return funds. Activation would need Polygon governance approval, Amoy testnet rehearsal and a fixed activation block that is still to be decided.
