Tether published its attestation for the third quarter of 2026, prepared by accounting firm BDO and covering figures as of 30 September, the company said on 30 October. Tether’s management asserted total assets of $191,451,091,374 and total liabilities of $183,496,460,904, of which $183,469,787,261 relate to digital tokens issued, leaving assets above liabilities by $7,954,630,470. Tether said this reserve buffer nearly doubled from $4.1 billion at the end of the second quarter.

Tether reported $1.5 billion in net operating profit for the third quarter, in line with the previous quarter, and $4.5 billion for the first three quarters of 2026, mostly from US Treasury bills and reverse repurchase agreements. It said direct and indirect holdings of US Treasury bills total $132.4 billion and that USDT issuance held broadly steady at about $184 billion over the first three quarters. Tether’s Bitcoin (BTC) reserves were valued at $8.37 billion at the end of September, up from about $5.8 billion at the end of June, Cointelegraph reported.

An attestation is a point-in-time report on reserves, not a full audit. Cointelegraph noted that Tether has faced years of scrutiny over its reserve transparency, and that in August Tether said KPMG US had finished the first full, independent audit of its financial statements, but the company did not publish the audited results.
