DeepSeek Paper Proposes AI Coding Agents That Need Less Supervision

Chinese AI company DeepSeek has described a design to make AI coding assistants more autonomous, so they can handle several tasks with less human input, according to a paper by the company’s DeepSeek Harness team. The paper was reported by the South China Morning Post on Sunday, 1 November, and by Cointelegraph, citing the Post.

The team said a person can oversee only three to five active AI agent sessions at the same time, noting that “multitask limits depend on human attention” rather than on model capabilities. Its proposed system would split tasks among agents and coordinate their work, leaving people free to review results and make decisions.

The reports describe a proposed design in a research paper; they do not mention a product release. The SCMP placed the paper in the context of a tight race among AI developers, including US firms Anthropic and OpenAI, Cointelegraph reported.
