Hardware wallet maker Trezor has told anyone who bought a Trezor from CryptoBilis from March 2026 onwards, and uses it to store funds, to transfer them right away to a brand-new wallet set up with a fresh seed. CryptoBilis was an official Trezor reseller in Southeast Asia until October 2026. In a blog post on 30 October, Trezor said it had received a responsible-disclosure report from a customer in Indonesia of a hardware implant in a Trezor Safe 5 bought from CryptoBilis in August 2026 via Tokopedia.

According to the report, which Trezor says it has not verified, a second circuit board carrying a mobile-network module and an antenna had been added between the device’s main board and its screen. The report says this board can capture anything shown on the display, including the recovery phrase, and transmit it over a cellular connection each time the wallet is connected. Trezor has not yet examined the device but is treating the report as credible, and says no CryptoBilis buyer has reported a loss of funds.

Trezor removed CryptoBilis as a reseller on 9 October 2026, the day Ledger began investigating fund losses among customers who had bought devices from CryptoBilis. Ledger later confirmed physical tampering on some of those devices. Trezor says buyers should not set up an unused CryptoBilis device or enter an existing wallet backup on it, and that moving the old backup to another device does not solve the problem. CryptoBilis buyers since March 2026 can get a new device or a voucher through Trezor Support. Trezor also warned that scammers will likely use the incident for phishing through fake emails, letters and phone calls.
